AM299. Broadbent & Co., Philadelphia. Quarter-plate Mascher’s Improved Stereoscope of a gentleman. The two images of the gentleman are separate images and they are in stereo. The Union case that holds the package is made up of one Berg 1-33, The Lord’s Prayer and the other side Berg 1-45, Lyre in Wide Portal. This appears to be a common pairing in the Union case world as I have had other Mascher’s in the same combined case. The case has one separated hinge and the label for Broadbent & Co. beneath the eye piece is torn but present. The eyepiece is attached to the torn section of the label. G. $450

(Greene) Carpenter, & Abby Frances Carpenter, first daughter of the same couple.” I found Albert on ‘Find A Grave.” He was born on Feb. 24, 1851 and died on Dec. 6, 1902. He is buried at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, RI. Resealed, housed in a full leather case. G. $85

He is buried at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, RI. Image his its original seals and has convex glass. Housed in a full, split leather case. VG. $100

AM305. Quarter-plate Union case, similar to Berg 3-25C but with a different cameo. There is an ambrotype of child within. There is very slight play at the hinges otherwise the case is in very good condition and is uncommon. $200


AM306. Sixth-plate daguerreotype of distinguished-looking gentleman posed before curtain background. He wears an elaborate neck decoration. A slip of paper that accompanies this image reads “Jewish man from Vienna name of Lewis husband of 1/4 plate woman.” Unfortunately there was no quarter-plate woman daguerreotype that accompanies this image and the two must have become separated some time ago. Resealed, housed in a full leather case. VG. $200


AM308. Gilchrest, George C., Lowell, Mass. While Gilchrest was listed as a daguerreian in Lowell from 1847-1860 at various addresses, only when he was located at 92 Merrimac Street from 1853-1855 did he spell his name ‘Gilchrest.” All other times he spelled it ‘Gilchrist.” Sixth-plate daguerreotype of “Marilyn’s Great, Great, Great, Aunt. Abby Robinson the Aunt.” Image has it’s original seals and is housed in a full leather case. VG. $125
