Snap153. Interesting and unique pair of snapshots, 2.75″ x 4.75,” of scenes at the wedding of Jane Cheney and Benjamin Spock. On the verso of the first image is written “Dr. & Mrs. Benjamin Spock (Jane Cheney), just married in Mary Cheney’s garden, Manchester, Conn. c. 1925.” The second image has the following written on verso: “Jane Cheney’s bridesmaids at her wedding to Benjamin Spock. Mary Cheney’s garden, June 1925.” These snapshots come from an archive of Cheney family material that I obtained several years ago. These two images come with an article that I printed out from the NY Times dated March 19, 1976 in which Mary Cheney is interviewed about her 30 years of suffering until her estranged husband finally gave her credit for helping him write his best-selling book “Baby and Child Care.” The first image has a fold between the couple.
