TT24. Anonymous Amputee at a Sewing
Machine. 3/4 plate tintype measuring 7" x 5". Tinted image showing a man
with a watch fob in the front of his vest and a gold ring on his little finger. His left
leg is amputated (the tin is reversed). He sits in front of a treadle sewing machine with a name
"Leslie" on the iron legs. The case to the sewing machine is lying on the floor.
The machine was manufactured by the National Sewing Machine Co. of Belvedere, Il., which
was previously based in Chicago. It was a joint effort of the June Manufacturing Co. and
Eldridge Sewing Machine Co. They moved to Belvedere in 1886 and became National in 1890.

OTT8. Tintype measuring 3 3/8" x 2 1/4." At first I thought they
might be lumberjacks, but someone has suggested that they are iceman with ice
tongs. Man
on left has an ax across his lap. Man at top right has an ax over his shoulder.
Condition
problems as shown. Fair. $35

OTT9. Tintype measuring 4" x 2 1/2" of a market hunter from Grand Isle
Louisiana. He holds a huge double-barreled shotgun and wears a great straw hat.

OTT10. Tintype measuring 3 7/8" x 2 1/2" of a pharmacist with his large
mortar and pestle. VG. $150

OTT11. Tintype measuring 3 7/8" x 2 1/2" of 3 blacksmiths with hammers,
horseshoe, etc. VG. $150

OTT12. Tintype measuring 3 5/8" x 2 1/2" of two carpenters with saws,
hammer, and T-square. VG. $150

OTT14. Sixth-plate Tintype of two pharmacists seated by a table with
bottles. They are in the process of compounding medications. Great condition,
housed in a half leather case. One of the best occupational tintypes I have had.
VG+. $400

OTT15. Tintype measuring 3 1/2" x 2 3/8" of 4 men who look like they are
part of a marching band. They are wearing huge hats, no instruments in sight. G.

OTT17. Carpenters with square, saw, etc. 3 3/8" x 2 3/8." G. $125

OTT21. Westport & Kansas City horse trolley. 4 3/4" x 6 1/2." Great outdoor
image, people in the trolley, couple kids at left. G. $450

OTT22. Tintype of lumberjacks or at least guys ready to chop wood, each with
an ax and a jaunty pose. Measures 4" x 2 1/2." VG. $75

OTT23. Sixth-plate Tintype of a model of a plow sitting on a table. Housed
in a full leather case. VG. $450



OTT24. Pair of sixth-plate tintypes of a dentist and his tools. In first
image he sits at a table with his tools. In the second image he is at work on a
customer with an instrument in the patient's mouth. Images are matted and have
glass. Housed in a full leather case repaired at spine. VG. $850


OTT25. Tintype, CDV-sized, of either a young photographer, pharmacist, or
chemist. He is weighing some substance, there are various bottles and chemicals
about, there are photos in the display case, and there is a young person
standing with back to camera looking into the display. Very odd composition.
Tintype has some bends and scratches and is housed under glass in full leather
case. G. $650
