Viewer14. Hand-held Holmes-Bates stereoviewer. This viewer appears to be the
one illustrated on page 108 of Stereoscopes: The First One Hundred Years
by Paul Wing. It is referred to as a "convertible hand held stereographoscope
produced by H.C. White for Sears Roebuck, circa 1895-1905. The only thing that
disputes the date is that there is a blindstamp impression on the card holder
that reads "Pat'd April 23.89." All wood. VG. $125

Viewer19. Large Stereographoscope measuring about 21" x 11 x 5" when
folded. Metal plate reading "W.R. Reid, 362 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, Ohio" on
viewer, probably the one-time owner. There are some chips and cracks to the
veneer on the scrollwork portion above the ground glass on the viewing panel.
Viewer is otherwise in good condition, fully operational. $400

Viewer24. Hand-held Holmes-Bates stereoviewer, Model 40 Eye Comfort
Stereoscope, Keystone View Co. This viewer comes with the Keystone Eye Comfort
Training pamphlet, "Sold only on prescription." The beginning of the pamphlet
reads "Your doctor has prescribed this Eye-Comfort Unit because these exercises
'smooth and ease the coordinating action of the two eyes, and bring relief to
many whose difficulties arise from inability to read, sew, or work
comfortably.'" The slide bar of the viewer is calibrated and it is explained in
the pamphlet. Wood with brown metal hood. VG+. $125
